Whistleblower sues Oldham Fiscal Court

January 20, 2010

A former Oldham County code enforcement officer is suing Oldham Fiscal Court, saying he was forced to resign last October after being a whistleblower.

In a lawsuit filed Dec. 30 in Oldham Circuit Court, Mitch Nobles argues he was fired after he reported that his boss, Louise Allen in the Planning and Development office, ordered him to cite someone for a code violation, even though one did not exist.

Firefighters sue to force city into talks

LA MARQUE — Five months after the city council refused to approve a new collective bargaining contract with the city’s paid firefighters, a union is asking a judge to force the city back to the bargaining table.

The lawsuit also includes claims the city manager and council are trying to force the union to dump its president.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in Judge Lonnie Cox’s 56th District Court, claims the city has acted in bad faith in contract talks. It goes on to accuse Mayor Pro Tem Keith Bell, who is a Galveston firefighter, of seeking retribution against union President John Brashear after Bell was suspended from his job without pay after he showed up at council meeting wearing his uniform.
