Wrongful death lawsuit filed against former Homer officers

HOMER — The “unreasonable actions” of two former Homer police officers created a “volatile situation” that resulted in the Feb. 20 shooting death of Bernard Monroe Sr., a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Claiborne Parish District Court alleges.
The wrongful death petition, which names Tim Cox and Joseph Henry as well as the town of Homer as defendants, was filed on behalf of Monroe’s widow, Louise M. Monroe, and the couple’s children, Shaun Monroe, Bernard Monroe Jr., Stephanie Bell and Gerald Monroe.
