Aviation Accident Categories

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigates most aviation accidents. They have four categories that airplane accidents are categorized into:

• Major Airplane Accidents – These aviation accidents are thus defined if a commercial aircraft was
• destroyed and caused multiple fatalities
• substantially damaged and caused one fatality

• Severe Airplane Accidents – These aviation accidents are thus defined if a commercial aircraft was
• without substantial damage and caused one fatality
• substantially damaged and caused at least one serious injury

• Injury Airplane Accidents – These aviation accidents are thus defined if a commercial aircraft was
• without any fatalities
• not substantially damaged and caused at least one serious injury

• Damage Airplane Accidents – These aviation accidents are thus defined if a commercial aircraft was
• substantially damaged and no one was seriously injured or killed

Claims Involving Minor Children

When a minor (someone under 18 years of age) has a personal injury claim, in many cases, there is an extra set of procedures that apply to protect the interests of the minor.
