This is because a person cannot even see, smell, feel, or taste the asbestos fibers.

Additionally, it is quite difficult to contain asbestos as it can easily be picked up by the wind or spread by asbestos-exposed workers. Often times, workers would expose their families to asbestos because the fibers were on their clothes. For example, there was a case in which people became ill from asbestos-related complications even though they lived approximately 10 miles away from an asbestos mine.
